Battle of Britain 2004 was a scenario that ran in August, 2004 in the multiplayer on-line air-combat simulation Aces High.
A view from the cockpit as Brooke in his Bf 109E-4, flying low over the French
countryside after takeoff, forms up with members of I/JG26. From left to right:
TBolt, 102jish, VolsCAF, TBlayde, and OddCAF.
Brooke's beautiful yellow-nosed Bf 109E-4, flying down low, leaving the coast
of France.
Brooke (in his Bf 109E-4) and TBolt and VolsCAF (in Ju 87 Stuka's on anti-ship
patrol) come across some British warships in the English Channel. An RAF Hurricane
(lower left in the image) is working to protect the ships.
Brooke chasing the Hurricane, trying to protect TBolt in a Stuka.
Brooke has not done a good job shooting down the first Hurricane quickly, and
now more Hurricanes are joining the fight. Now Brooke has to evade one going
for him. TBolt's gunner is shooting at the Hurricane attacking his Stuka.
Brooke has done a bad job defending not only TBolt and VolsCAF in their Stukas
but himself as well. The Hurricane on Brooke is saddled up and getting hits.
Brooke's engine is now smoking. VolsCAF's Stuka is visible in the right of the
image.
A Hurricane can outturn a 109, but the 109 is faster and can dive better. To
get the Hurricane off his tail, Brooke dives away to outrun it and get some
distance. A destroyed British ship has left a flaming oil patch on the water.
The Hurricane breaks off, and Brooke loops to get back into the fight. VolsCAF's
Stuka (indicated by uppermost green icon) is still alive. VolsCAF has gone vertical
to evade. TBolt isn't visible and is probably already shot down. OddCAF in a
Bf 109E-4 (indicated by lowest green icon) is in the fight, but a couple more
Hurricanes have joined, too.
Brooke just past vertical as he vectors to get back into the fight. He is too
late. The two Hurricanes chase VolsCAF into the vertical, close, open fire,
and set his Stuka alight. OddCAF (lower-left green icon) in his Bf 109E-4 is
chasing the two Hurricanes, but there is a Hurricane following him.
Very shortly after turning back to join the fight, Brooke's engine dies (indicated
by motionless propellor). Brooke dives for the deck to pull some Hurricanes
low at least. A couple do follow him. When he and they are nice and low, Brooke
pulls up slightly then bails out into the Channel and is picked up later by
a German patrol boat driven by Edbert.
Battle of Britain 2004 is Brooke's first scenario since the demise of Air Warrior years earlier, and he is (to put it politely) out of practice. He ends the frame with no kills and no assists and a ditch.
